New Delhi [India], September 11 (ANI): Delhi Minister Atishi on Monday said that beautification work will continue in the national capital even after the conclusion of the G20 Summit adding that a maintenance agency will be deployed so that the existing beautification works are not damaged.
Speaking to ANI, Atishi said, "I want to congratulate all the agencies working for the G20 Summit. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has decided that we will work for the beautification of Delhi, the way it was done during the G20 Summit. We have started the work. I have reviewed the situation with the PWD department. The work for the beautification of Delhi will start again tomorrow."
"A maintenance agency will be deployed to ensure that the beautification work done during the G20 Summit especially the fountains and sculptures are not damaged," she added.
The capital has been adorned with radiant murals, graffiti, painted walls and sculptures. The authorities have beautified roads, footpaths, roundabouts, markets, flyovers, and public areas with over 1 lakh potted plants.
Over 3 thousand trees and an impressive 9 lakh saplings were also planted across New Delhi.
Earlier last week Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena inaugurated the G20 Park developed by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
NDMC said that each sculpture in the park has been handcrafted and is a testimony to the fact that waste can be turned into artistic objects in an aesthetic and meaningful manner. Artists have used iron bars, automobile parts, metal plates, wire mesh, rims, chains, bearing balls and other junk material for handcrafting sculptures. (ANI)
