Bangalore metro services temporarily halted after workers protest

The ongoing dispute between the management of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and its sole recognised union, Bhartiya Khadya Nigam Karamchari Sangh (BKNKS), was taken up for conciliation on Thursday before the Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) in New Delhi.

Gujarat chief minister Bhupendra Patel on Thursday distributed 40 electric cars to Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the state in Gandhinagar to facilitate practical training in electric vehicle technology for trainees in the Motor Mechanic trade. During the event, the Chief Minister also inaugurated 50 Dhanvantari Arogya Rath and six Mobile Medical Vans to provide doorstep primary healthcare services to construction workers and labourers.

Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu felicitated Anil Marwah, a dedicated enthusiast of the Delhi Metro, for his personal milestone of riding the first train on the opening day of every newly inaugurated metro corridor in the Delhi Metro network.

The Delhi High Court on Thursday issued notice on a petition challenging orders that prohibit public meetings and protests within the Delhi University campus. The court has sought responses from Delhi University, Delhi Police, and concerned colleges regarding the restrictions imposed earlier this year.

According to a post by BRS on 'X', KTR warned that the shortage is severely affecting hotels, eateries, hostels and small food businesses. The letter cautioned that thousands of establishments could be forced to shut down, while lakhs of workers and students may face serious hardship if the LPG supply is not restored immediately.

Restaurant owners say they are unable to obtain commercial gas cylinders, resulting in some establishments temporarily shut down, and some food outlets selling tea, poha, and kachori are trying to keep their businesses running by using wood and coal for cooking.

The incident occurred at Capital Power System Limited, a company engaged in the manufacture of electricity meters, under the jurisdiction of the Phase 2 police station. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, officials said.

Led by Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, Congress leaders have continued protests in the Parliament premises over the reports of nationwide shortage of LPG gas cylinders on Thursday.

Sharing the service update on X, DMRC wrote, "Service Update. Delay in train services on the Magenta Line Extension between the Majlis Park and Deepali Chowk metro stations due to a technical issue. Normal services on all other lines."

"LPG is totally controlled by the Central government, and the entire supply is with them. If the rationing of essential commodities continues due to shortages, it will create serious problems. Forget about tourism first; every household kitchen will be affected. If people are unable to cook food on time, it will disrupt daily life. Children have to go to school, workers have to go to work, and if there is no food on time, how will people manage their day?" he raised questions.
