Australia partners with India for leadership training in skills education

New Delhi [India], Nov.18 (ANI): Australia's Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institutes are conducting the third tranche of a program aimed at helping India up skill its vocational training leaders and support its target to train 400 million people by 2022. Australia - India Vocational Education Leadership Training 2016 is designed to build the leadership and organizational capacity of Indian vocational training institutions. Over 120 Indian leaders from community colleges, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras, industrial training institutes and polytechnics are taking part in the program. Participants will undertake intensive leadership training, which will equip them with extra capabilities to lead the India skills mission. Training will be conducted by experts from Australian TAFE institutes through their peak national body - TAFE Directors Australia. This program is a collaborative effort between the Australian Government's Department of Education and Training and Indian Government's agencies - the University Grants Commission, the Ministry of Skills and Entrepreneurship Development and the All India Council for Technical Education. Dr Amanda Day, Counsellor (Education and Research), Department of Education and Training, said the program was an important part of the Australia India skills relationship. "Australia and India have collaborated successfully for many years on skills," she said. "This workshop will leverage Australian expertise to support India's skilling requirement." The project also includes a one-week professional development for up to 20 Indian leaders in Australian TAFE institutes in February 2017. (ANI)
