Aus scraps visa programme popular with Indians: MEA examining 'consequences'

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday launched the distribution of seed capital under Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyaan (MMUA) to women beneficiaries by handing over cheques amounting to Rs. 10,000 to each of the 5,155 women beneficiaries of Jalukbari Legislative Assembly Constituency at a programme held at Swahid Smarak Kshetra in Boragaon in Guwahati.

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that several of these individuals, particularly students, have already left Iran and returned to India. Others, including students and pilgrims based in Tehran, have been shifted to safer locations and cities within the country.

Speaking about Article 105 of the Constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech in Parliament, the Speaker said that while freedom of speech is a fundamental right, it is regulated by the rules and traditions of the House.

"The members of the house have strengthened the traditions of the House, and always increased the prestige of the house. I thank everyone for putting their trust in me. I give you my confidence that I will always work to carry out my duties in an impartial, fair manner," Birla said on Thursday.

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has issued an advisory to pharmaceutical manufacturers, importers, and marketing authorization holders to ensure strict compliance with the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and Rules, 1945 in the promotion and marketing of prescription medicines, particularly GLP-1 receptor agonists and similar drugs indicated for obesity and metabolic disorders

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday distributed the second tranche of financial assistance under the Chief Minister's Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan 1.0 at a programme held at Khanapara in Guwahati.

"The opposition has brought a no-confidence motion against the Lok Sabha Speaker. Rahul Gandhi had the opportunity to speak for as long as he wanted, as time was allotted for his party. However, they lack facts, arguments, and any substantial basis. Today, the opposition stands completely exposed. The nation has seen how some members dance on tables, tear up papers and throw them at the Speaker, use pepper spray, and bring banners into the House. Such members should naturally be suspended according to the rules and should not be given a chance to speak," he said.

Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said that it is unfortunate for the country's parliamentary politics that the opposition has brought a resolution for the removal of Speaker Om Birla and that members are expected to speak and participate in proceedings according to the rules and procedures.

DC Krishan Lal, while speaking to ANI, said, "We conducted an exercise to know how many students of Doda district are stuck in Iran. Out of the 6 students, 1 came back on the 27th, and 5 were stranded."

The programme marked a significant step towards strengthening direct communication between the Government and citizens, with a special focus on supporting families from the DESME BPL category and others from economically weaker sections.
