New Delhi [India], February 3 (ANI): On the final day of campaigning ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, Congress candidate Alka Lamba expressed confidence in winning the Kalkaji assembly constituency. She took a jibe at Atishi, calling her a "temporary Chief Minister" who is "about to retire."
Speaking to ANI, Alka Lamba said, "My leader Rahul Gandhi came here to strengthen me. He saw tears in the eyes of Bhoomiheen camp residents. The permanent dwellings here were built under former CM Sheila Dikshit. I want to thank all the people of the constituency for their support. On February 5 Congress will win the polls. She (Atishi) is a temporary CM and she is about to retire. Alka Lamba will become the next MLA of the Kalkaji assembly constituency."
Lamba further added that there is a wave in favour of Congress and the party is returning to power.
Earlier, on Monday, Sandeep Dikshit, a Congress candidate from the New Delhi assembly constituency, criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal, claiming his only "trick" was giving away freebies.
Speaking to ANI, Dikshit said, "Arvind Kejriwal has only one trick, which was to give freebies... The people of Delhi look towards Congress for the things that they are agonising for."
Reacting to income tax exemption under Union Budget 2025 up to an income of Rs 12 lakh, he said, "... For the last many years they (central government) have not given any concession. They have given this (income tax) limit according to the inflation; this is not a concession. The middle class understands this."
Monday marks the last day of campaigning for the Delhi Assembly elections. Delhi will go to the polls on Wednesday and the results of the election will be declared on February 8. (ANI)
