Assam floods: Sonowal directs ministers to visit their constituencies as situation worsens

Guwahati, July 28 (ANI): With the current flood situation in Assam showing no signs of receding, State Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma has said the situation in the state is very critical and the government is taking serious measures to help the people of state in every possible manner.

Guwahati, July 28 (ANI): With the current flood situation in Assam showing no signs of receding, State Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma has said the situation in the state is very critical and the government is taking serious measures to help the people of state in every possible manner. "This time the flood of Assam was very dangerous. It has spread to every district. The MLA's have been given direction from the Chief Minister and has been requested to visit their constituency and provide proper facility to the people," Brahma told ANI here. The rise in the water level of the Brahmaputra River has made the condition of Assam very critical and many districts have been submerged in the flow of water. The Forest Minister will be also visiting the Kaziranga and Manas National Park for assessing the situation over there. "Kaziranga National Park is situated at the bank of river Brahmaputra and the water level has risen. The condition of Manas national park is very serious. I have been requested to visit there," said the minister. She further added, due to the current flowing form Bhutan the embankment of the Manas national park has been broken down and the water is entering inside the park. The flood situation in Assam worsened as new areas have been inundated. Over 15 lakh people were affected in 19 districts in the current flood. As per reports, the administration has rescued all affected families as surging water breached Bongaon embankment at Majuli river island in Jorhat. All the rescued people have been provided shelter in the embankment. (ANI)
