Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], October 3 (ANI): Congress leader Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday expressed confidence in his party's victory in the upcoming Haryana assembly elections, asserting that a "Congress storm" is sweeping through the state.
Speaking to reporters in Jaipur, he said, "There is a Congress storm in Haryana. The Congress will win with a huge majority. Ever since Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi held a road show there, the atmosphere has become one-sided. What was once a small breeze is now a storm. Congress will win by a landslide."
Earlier, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, met a group of athletes from Haryana and stated that sportspersons, rather than politicians, should lead sports bodies.
"No money, no game - this is the reality for most athletes in India today. I met a group of players from Haryana and across the country to hear their concerns," Gandhi posted on X.
"Completely disillusioned with the system and struggling with a lack of basic facilities such as diet, rest, and training, these young athletes are losing hope and confidence - a greater loss for India than missing out on Olympic glory," the post added.
In addition, Priyanka Gandhi strongly criticised the BJP, accusing the party of betraying farmers, youth, soldiers, and women.
"When you voted for the BJP twice, did you expect such widespread looting, where all the country's airports and ports would be handed over to a few industrialists? Even we could not have imagined such a monumental betrayal," she said.
Addressing a public rally in Bhiwani, Haryana, Priyanka Gandhi referred to Kurukshetra as the land of the Mahabharata, where Lord Krishna delivered the message of the triumph of truth over falsehood, and righteousness over unrighteousness. She said the people of Haryana are following that example today.
"The people of Haryana are rising up against the BJP for the injustices faced by farmers, soldiers, and wrestlers. Congress is set to form the government with a significant majority," she declared.
Haryana will go to the polls on October 5 to elect its 90-member state legislative assembly, with the results set to be announced on October 8. (ANI)
