New Delhi [India], May 21 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is slated to hold a press conference on Tuesday, he announced through his official 'X' handle as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has come under fire with the Swati Maliwal assault case.
"I will do a PC at 11 am," Kejriwal's post on 'X' read.
The Aam Aadmi Party chief who is out on interim bail till June 1 asserted to provide full statehood to the national capital once the opposition alliance, INDIA bloc assumes power in the Centre.
"On June 4, the INDIA coalition government will be formed and Aam Aadmi Party will be a part of it. We will give full statehood to Delhi. We have improved the schools and hospitals but the law and order is very bad, the police do not listen but after June 4, they will listen to the public," CM Kejriwal said on Monday while addressing supporters during a roadshow in the East Delhi area.
He also took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking him to "do the work for which he was elected" and alleged that the latter is "using all his energy to arrest" opposition leaders.
"The people of the country had elected the Prime Minister but he has left his work and is now acting like a police officer. When he wakes up in the morning, he thinks that today he has to arrest this person, he has to arrest that person," Kejriwal said.
"Prime Minister, do the work for which you were elected. Employ the youth, and reduce inflation. But no, they are using all their energy in arresting opposition leaders," he added.
Meanwhile, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to investigate the Swati Maliwal case, a week after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's former personal secretary Bibhav Kumar of assaulting her, police officials said.
Voting in seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi will be held on May 25. The counting of the votes will be done on June 4. As part of the seat-sharing arrangement, the Congress is contesting three seats while AAP has fielded candidates from four constituencies in Delhi. (ANI)
