New Delhi [India], May 16 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Manoj Tiwari on Thursday said that Arvind Kejriwal is a corrupt person and the Supreme Court has made it clear by not giving him bail adding that it gave him interim bail.
Tiwari also attacked Kejriwal over the alleged assault on Swati Maliwal, saying women are not safe under Kejriwal's governance.
"Arvind Kejriwal is a corrupt person and the Supreme Court has made it clear by not giving him bail. He was given only interim bail. But now the people of Delhi know that the women here are not safe under Arvind Kejriwal's governance. There are several cases of party leaders slapping women...The people of Delhi are in shock after the incident that happened with the AAP Rajya Sabha MP," he told ANI.
Swati Maliwal, a Rajya Sabha MP of AAP and former chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), has claimed that she was assaulted by the personal assistant to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
The alleged assault on the former chairperson of the DCW triggered a major political slugfest between the BJP and the AAP, with the former accusing the CM of shielding his accused aide.
The Supreme Court on Friday gave interim bail to the Aam Aadmi Party convenor till June 1. However, as per the terms of his bail, the Delhi Chief Minister cannot make any comment about his role in the Delhi liquor scam case.
Polling for all seven seats in the national capital will be conducted in a single phase on May 25, the sixth or penultimate phase of the ongoing national elections. The counting of votes for all phases is scheduled for June 4. (ANI)
