Army on look out for third terrorist
Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Apr 27 (ANI): The Indian Army on Thursday said a search operation for the third terrorist is on and has assured to find him soon in Kupwara's Panzgam area. "Search operation for the third terrorist is on. The identity of the terrorist is being ascertained, the material found points likely towards foreign terrorists," the army told ANI. The army further asserted that only after recovering one additional AK-47, had they concluded that a third terrorist was also with them. "Two terrorists who were killed earlier in the day, their identities and search operations are in progress. Only after recovering one additional AK-47, that indicates the presence of a third terrorist with them, who is absconding," added the army. Earlier in the day, a massive gun-battle was witnessed here as two terrorists were neutralised and three Army personnel lost their lives. Around 4.40 a.m, the terrorists entered the Kupwara Army camp from the rear side of the firing range. They had also cut the fence and reached the officer complex area, sources said. Within minutes, however both the terrorists were neutralised, while one managed to escape. There are total nine units in the area and the camp includes artillery and infantry units. The area of the camp is around 600 and 400 meters. The arms and ammunition recovered were, three AK 47, nine magazines, one Chinese pistol, hand grenades, mapping sheet, two GPRS equipment and one smart phone. All three were wearing black 'pathan' suit and half combat jacket. Seven army soldiers were injured, six are in Srinagar and one is being treated in Kupwara itself. According to reports one of them is in a critical condition. The political fraternity has come together in condemning the attack and also paying their tributes to the slain soldiers. (ANI)
