Army expands Kashmir Super series to 50 to provide free coaching
Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], April 30 (ANI): After achieving success with its Kashmir Super-40 initiative, which provides coaching for the youth for Engineering Entrance Exams, the Indian Army has further expanded the coaching programme to 50 students with immediate effect. The Army's Kashmir Super-40 broke all previous records when 26 boys and two girls from the state cracked the IIT-JEE Mains 2017. This initiative by the Army is a major successful step towards providing a platform for the underprivileged yet talented students of the state to excel in their careers. Apart from the IITs, the students of Kashmir Super-40 have equally excelled in various other Engineering Colleges Exams throughout the country Achieving a success rate of 78 percent, the result of the Super-40 is at par with the best IIT coaching centres in the country. Conducted at Srinagar by Army's training partner Centre for Social Responsibility and Learning (CSRL) and Petronet LNG since 2013, this year's performance was the best wherein 28 students achieved success. These include nine from South Kashmir, ten from North Kashmir, seven from Kargil/Ladakh and two from the Jammu region. This was the first batch in which five girls from the Kashmir Valley were coached in Delhi out of which two have qualified. Despite the numerous challenges caused by the internal disturbances in Kashmir, the IIT/JEE coaching was undertaken as per the stipulated schedule by the Army. Under this flagship scheme, the candidates are selected by the Army through an entrance test and interview process conducted at various colleges throughout the state in the month of April to May. The entire coaching and stay is free for the students and is sponsored under the CSR initiative by Petronet LNG. (ANI)
