Army, Assam Police neutralise two NDFB(S) terrorists in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar (Assam), July 25 (ANI): In a joint operation, the Indian Army and the Assam Police on Monday neutralised two National Democratic Front of Boroland-Songbijit NDFB(S) terrorists in Jharbari area of Kokrajhar District in Assam and also recovered weapons and ammunition from them.

Kokrajhar (Assam), July 25 (ANI): In a joint operation, the Indian Army and the Assam Police on Monday neutralised two National Democratic Front of Boroland-Songbijit NDFB(S) terrorists in Jharbari area of Kokrajhar District in Assam and also recovered weapons and ammunition from them. In view of the high state of alertness being maintained due to inputs being received regarding movement by anti national elements to carry out serial blasts in the run up to Independence day, the Indian Army and Assam Police are maintaining a very high state of vigil. As a result of heightened security, the joint team got an input that some terrorists were moving towards Jharbari. The joint team swiftly launched an operation in the wee hours today and as they reached the spot, a group of terrorists opened indiscriminate fire on the team. The team retaliated with controlled fire and neutralised two terrorists. These terrorists were identified as Pungkha Narzary and Jwngsr Basumatary. Both the terrorists were of 42 batch and were involved in numerous subversive activities including extortion, kidnapping and were planning to target Security Forces camps and convoys in the run-up to Independence Day. Two pistols, some ammunition, two grenades and other warlike stores were recovered from the terrorists. The Indian Army has been maintaining a very high tempo of operations despite heavy rains and flood situation in the area. (ANI)
