Appointing new CM in Gujarat not sufficient to change BJP's fortune: Congress
Gandhinagar, Aug 06 (ANI): The Congress party on Saturday said that appointment of Vijay Rupani as the new Gujarat Chief Minister would not make any difference in state, since the people of the state are already fed up with the rampant corruption there. Speaking to ANI, Congress state leader Arjun Modhwadia said the BJP is divided internally and has become delusional on its course. "Today, people of Gujarat are distressed by the BJP rule which is marred with corruption and is also disturbed by its narcissistic attitude, that a revolt kind of situation has emerged," he said. "Mere introduction of a new face would not suffice because BJP has become internally divided, the party has become delusional," he added. He further stated that communities like the Patidars, Dalits and Scheduled tribe, who have significant presence in the state, are distressed. He said that the condition of the state is bad and has become breeding ground for revolt. "I believe in 2017, during the assembly elections in Gujarat, the people will wipe out BJP," he said. BJP state unit chief Vijay Rupani was appointed as the new Chief Minister of Gujarat yesterday. In a crucial meeting attended by BJP Chief Amit Shah and Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari at the party headquarters in the state, the decision to make Rupani as the next Chief Minister was announced. Rupani thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah for reposing faith in his and asserted that his team will focus on uplifting the farmer, youth, poor and marginalised in the state. (ANI)
