Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], September 23 (ANI): Himachal Pradesh Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Monday slammed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kangana Ranaut for her remarks against senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, demanded her apology, and challenged her to prove her allegations against the veteran politician or face legal action for her remarks.
Congress leader Vikramaditya Singh lashed out at Ranaut and said that even an "illiterate person" would not make such a statement.
"I think not even an illiterate person would say such things. Either she should show evidence or apologise within a week, or else we will file a defamation case against her. BJP should take cognisance of this matter," said Vikramaditya Singh.
This comes after Ranaut alleged that the Congress-ruled Himachal Pradesh government used to take out loans and divert the money to Sonia Gandhi.
Speaking to ANI, Vikramaditya Singh said, "We respect Kangana since she is an elected BJP MP from Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, but it is unfortunate the way she has made statements against our national leader Sonia Gandhi ji."
Earlier, Kangana Ranaut, on September 20, slammed the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, over the statements he made during his US visit and said that the Congress doesn't even hesitate to divide the country to get into power.
"A few people are being used, fringe groups are being instigated--the kind of things Rahul Gandhi speaks about the country when he goes abroad, people know it. What he feels about the country is not hidden from anyone. He doesn't even hesitate to divide the country to get into power," Ranaut told ANI.
Rahul Gandhi's comments on various issues sparked controversy in India, after which the BJP leader slammed the leader and condemned Gandhi's statements.
Another issue the BJP leader slammed was when Rahul Gandhi said that the Congress party will think of scrapping reservations when India becomes a "fair place," which it is not.
He also reiterated the need to conduct a caste census while saying that 90 per cent of the country's population--OBCs, Dalits, and Adivasis--not having proper representation in the country is the "elephant in the room."
"There's an elephant in the room. When we talk about the capture of institutions, businesses, and the media, the elephant in the room is that 90 per cent of India--OBCs, Dalits, Adivasis--aren't even part of the game. That's really the elephant in the room," Rahul Gandhi said. (ANI)
