New Delhi [India], Jan 25 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that all those who will raise slogans against 'Bharat Mata' (Mother India) will be put behind bars.
"You can abuse as much as you want. But anyone who shouts slogans against Mother India will be put inside jail. Their place is behind bars," said Shah addressing a public meeting here in Badli.
Citing slogans that were raised in the Jawaharlal Nehru University two years back, Shah said: "Anti-India slogans -- 'India you will be broken into thousand pieces' -- were raised inside the JNU campus. Tell me, should those who talk about breaking India be put in jail or not?"
"If we put them in jail, then Rahul Baba (Rahul Gandhi) and Kejriwal (AAP chief) say that they have a right to freedom of speech," he said.
"We sent those people to jail who raised the slogan of 'Bharat tere tukde ho hazar' in JNU two years ago... But Kejriwal government has not sanctioned the prosecution of these people and they are roaming free. Kejriwal, do you want to give sanction to prosecute them or not?" he asked.
The Union Minister further cornered Aam Aadmi Party for not fulfilling the promises the party made before coming into power and said: "If there will be a competition to lie, the Aam Aadmi Party will be in the first place."
He lambasted the Opposition for allegedly "instigating riots" after the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and said only Prime Minister Narendra Modi can control anti-national forces.
"These people (opposition) started instigating riots after we implemented the CAA. They have no shame in standing with rioters. Manish Sisodia has pledged his support to people in Shaheen Bagh...Only Prime Minister Modi can control anti-national forces," he said.
Stressing that Jammu and Kashmir will celebrate its first Republic Day since the abrogation of Article 370, he said: "Tomorrow is January 26, our Republic Day. You must be watching TV tomorrow and you will see that tricolour will be unfurled with pride in Kashmir."
It will be the first Republic day celebration in the Valley after the abrogation of Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir. (ANI)
