Animal lovers rejoice! Brutes arrested for flinging dog off terrace in Chennai
Chennai, July 6 (ANI): In a news that has made animal-lovers rejoice across the nation, the two men who were seen flinging a dog mercilessly off a roof in Chennai in a video that went viral, have been arrested and brought to the SriPerumbadoor Court here. The dog, which is now addressed by animal lovers as 'Bhadra' was thrown off a terrace by a MBBS student. She miraculously survived the fall but suffered a fracture in one of her hind legs. She was brought to the Madras Veterinary College in Vepery for medical treatment today. Expressing joy over the arrest of the two culprits, Animal activist Shravan Krishnan asserted that they would take action against the two and assure that their bails would be countered if they file it. "This is a great news that the culprits have been arrested and they have brought to the court. We are very happy that the dog is safe and the culprits have been arrested. We would definitely take action against them. We would fight and we would make sure that they get the punishment that they deserve. We will counter the bail application if they file it," Krishnan added. He said when they rescued the dog last night, she was completely terrified, but good news is it is out of danger now. "The giveaway for me was that she was still waging her tail. The doctor is saying that the dog is out of danger. It has a fracture on its right hind leg. Further investigation would go on. We have named the dog 'Bhadra'," he added. Calling for strict action against the accused, Shravan said they have filed a case in this regard. "We will make sure they are thrown out of college and they cannot medical here," he added. The veterinary doctor conducted a medical check-up on the dog and said at present it is in a state of shock. "The puppy is five months old and its present condition is okay. The clinical examination reveals fracture of the right femur. Her other three legs are okay. I feel it's out of danger and it requires treatment for the fracture. The animal seems to be in shock. It will take around three-four weeks to cure the fracture," Doctor Jaiprakash told the media here. In a horrific video, the medical student was seen throwing the dog from a roof. The video went viral, generating an outcry of disgust and horror. In the disturbing video, the man is seen holding the dog by the neck, balancing her on the edge of the roof. The man then goes on to mercilessly drop the dog. The video ends with the sound of the dog hitting the ground below and howling in agony. The video even shows the falling of the dog in slow-motion, which indicates the level of insensitivity on part of the man. However, the nation rejoiced yesterday when reports surface that the dog had survived the brutality and a cry rose to arrest the brutes seen in the video. (ANI)
