"An expression of our gratitude...": Udhayanidhi Stalin hits back at E Palaniswami for remarks on Karunanidhi-named schemes

Notably, AIADMK Chief E Palaniswami recently claimed that if the DMK government wanted to initiate programs under Karunanidhi's name, it should do it by using funds from a trust and not government funds. He also mentioned that schemes named after Karunanidhi wouldn't benefit the people of the state.

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], November 18 (ANI): Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin fired back at opposition leader Edappadi K Palaniswami for his comments on schemes named after Karunanidhi, the late DMK chief and former Chief Minister.
Replying to this, Udhayanidhi Stalin, in a post on X said, "What is wrong with naming the Government Schemes focusing late Karunanidhi who worked for the people of Tamil Nadu till the age of 94? In the past, during the AIADMK regime, who gave names to the government schemes like Amma Restaurant, Amma Cement and Amma salt?"
Udhayanidhi Stalin's response came after Palaniswami criticized the DMK-led government for renaming existing schemes after Karunanidhi, suggesting it was an attempt to politicize welfare initiatives
Stalin also asserted that from abolishing the hand rickshaw to providing computer education, Karunanidhi created modern Tamil Nadu, naming government schemes and erecting statues of our Karunanidhi and it is an expression of our gratitude to Karunanidhi.
"The leader of the opposition does not know what 'thank you' means so he will not understand this. He is the person who has become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu by holding and washing her leg, he is talking like this because he does not know the feeling of gratitude. If he wants, let him have a statue for the table he crawled on. Let us idolize the Karunanidhi who made us," he added.
Slamming the AIADMK Chief, Udhayanidhi Stalin said that the frustration that "There is no one to praise him'(EPS)" and the disappointment that "There is no one in AIADMK to praise him" are revealed in the words of the leader of the opposition.
"We are the crops cultivated by the Dravidian movement leaders cultivated by social justice policy. It is no wonder that the undergrowth of Aryans and the uprooted weeds are enraged if we see them. It is the Leader of the Opposition who gives himself an Experience Certificate saying, 'I am experienced no matter what - no one can see the path I have gone through," he said on X.
"When will you list the books you have finished reading and kept safe at home? Have you found scholars to understand the meaning of the word 'Dravid' in your party name? Come answer all these and criticize us. Your empty words and vain chatter will never stop our journey for people's welfare," the Tamil Nadu Deputy CM said. (ANI)
