New Delhi [India], August 19 (ANI): Amid rumours that Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader and former Jharkhand Chief Minister, Champai Soren is likely to join the BJP, State Congress Chief, Keshav Mahto Kamlesh said on Monday that they have always given him respect and there is nothing to be upset about.
"Alliance government has always given him respect. JMM made him an MLA, a minister. He was also made the CM. So, he was always given respect, there is nothing to be upset about," Jharkhand Congress Chief said.
After attending the Congress Screening Committee members meeting, held today in Delhi, Keshav Kamlesh said that for the upcoming Jharkhand assembly polls, no discussion has been held in the alliance for seat distribution.
"No discussion has been held with us so far regarding that (distribution of seats for state elections). We are going to have a meeting with the Screening Committee chief and members again," he said.
Champai Soren on Sunday said that he was "insulted" during his tenure, adding that till the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly polls, "all options are open for him".
He also listed out various instances when he was not allowed to call a meeting of the legislative party and was asked to resign suddenly which prompted him "to look for an alternative path".
In a long post on X, Champai Soren said that he has always done politics of public concern from raising the voice of workers against industrial houses at the beginning of his public life to the Jharkhand movement.
Champai Soren also mentioned on X that after the same meeting of the legislative party, he had three options, first to retire from politics, second, to form his own separate organization and third, if he finds a companion on this path, then to travel further with him.
"From that day till today, and till the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, all options are open for me in this journey," Soren said.
Meanwhile, Jharkhand Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) president Babulal Marandi on Monday said that Soren's pain is visible in his post.
"The way he wrote the post, his pain is visible, He's deeply hurt because of the way he was removed from the CM post and now that pain has come out," Babulal Marandi said.
When asked about the possibility of Champai Soren joining the BJP, Babulal Marandi refrained from answering.
"I can't tell you. He has said that he went to Delhi to meet his family and when a person is in pain he often visits his family." Marandi said.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Sunday indirectly targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party over rumours of Champai Soren leaving the party and said that BJP people are continuously poaching MLAs and money is such a thing that it doesn't take long for politicians to move here and there.
CM Soren said, "These people (BJP) bring people from Gujarat, Assam, Maharashtra and spread poison among the tribals, Dalits and backward people here. Forget about society, these people (BJP) work to break families, they work to break parties. They are continuously poaching MLAs. Money is such a thing that it doesn't take long for politicians to move here and there."
Speaking on it, Jharkhand Minister Banna Gupta said that the BJP wants to loot the Jharkhand by making Jharkhand's democracy a laboratory.
"We the people in the INDIA alliance are standing firm under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge against this loot. Our CM Hemant Soren was imprisoned without reason, just to capture the power in the state but we vigilantly failed them and saved democracy. BJP has mastery in creating a divide between families, and society and setting narratives to benefit themselves. But, the people of Jharkhand don't like those who stabbed them in their back," he said.
"Champai Soren is a simple person, the way they (BJP) trying to trap him and conspire by bringing him to their side, this conspiracy will not succeed," he added. (ANI)
