Guwahati (Assam) [India], April 16 (ANI): Assam President Congress Committee president Bhupen Kumar Borah launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday for "losing his voice" and considering his (CM) chair "more important than your self-respect."

"Himanta Biswa Sarma, it was nice to see you lose your voice. You have always considered your chair more important than your self-respect. Here is the latest evidence," read a post on X by the Congress leader.
The Assam Congress president's comments were made as he posted a purported video in which the state's BJP president is seen shouting at a local MLA, Jayanta Malla Baruah, with CM Sarma beside Saikia. In the video, it is not clear what Saikia told the MLA.

Underlining the 'demurred' reaction of CM Sarma by staying silent in the video, Borah claimed that there is a rift in the party between recent members who have joined and 'RSS-loyalists.'
"I always knew that, in BJP Assam, the Syndicate Sardars are facing a fightback from the RSS-loyalists, but unfortunately, the Godi Media is too afraid to show it. Therefore, while this shouting match is not a revelation, this is certainly unexpected from the media," Borah wrote in a post on X.
Continuing his jibe at the Assam CM, he sarcastically said that while outside, the CM 'shows his courage' by locking up ordinary people, journalists and Congress spokesmen, but he does not speak anything in front of the BJP state president.
The purported video posted by the Congress leader is from Nalbari district's BJP office. The BJP state president is seen shouting at local MLA and state government minister Jayanta Malla Baruah. In the video, it is not clear what the BJP state president is saying.
BJP leaders, including Baruah and Saikia, have not confirmed what the incident was about or the reason for it.
The Congress state president had referenced the arrest of Congress spokesperson Reetam Singh. He had gotten bail on March 28. However, Congress has alleged that the CM Sarma-led Assam government has targeted their party member in an effort to "throttle his voice" (ANI)
