Alliance with Congress will bear fruit in UP polls: SP
New Delhi [India], Jan 22 (ANI): Expressing confidence of victory in more than 300 seats post alliance with the Congress, the Samajwadi Party on Sunday said the new relationship between both parties will bear fruit when the state goes to the polls next month. Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal said that his party has rolled out a balanced manifesto and will fulfil all promises mentioned in the document. "I am very sure that this alliance will strengthen our position in the Uttar Pradesh elections. We will win 300 plus seats and form a government here. We will fulfil all the promises we have mentioned in our manifesto," said Agarwal. "We fulfilled more promises that we made in our 2012 manifesto. We have considered all sections of society in our manifesto," he added. Responding to a poser on Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav's absence from the manifesto release event, Agarwal said, "Neta ji's blessing are always with us, he will be very much visible during the elections. The Samajwadi Party stands united." Putting all speculations to rest, the Congress and the Samajwadi Party earlier in the day finally forged an alliance for the high-voltage Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls. The Congress, which wanted to contest as many as 121 seats, has reportedly now settled for 105 seats. The development comes after Congress general secretary Ahmed Patel said that Priyanka Gandhi intervened to end the ongoing deadlock over entering into an alliance to counter the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the politically crucial state. "Wrong to suggest lightweights were dealing on behalf of Congress party.Discussion was at highest level- b/w CM (UP),GS I/C & Priyanka Gandhi," he tweeted. Uttar Pradesh will vote in seven phases beginning February 11 and results will be announced on March 11. (ANI)

TMC's jibe at Centre amid LPG crisis due to West Asia conflict

In an 'X' post, TMC said the government has "ek hi naara, line mein rahe desh bechara," pointing to past governmental measures including demonetisation, the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, the Special Identification Registration (SIR), and now the LPG shortage. The party described demonetisation as a "Tughlaqi farman" that forced ordinary citizens to wait in serpentine queues outside banks and ATMs for days to access their own money. The post also highlighted the 2020 COVID-19 oxygen crisis, when families stood in long lines outside hospitals and suppliers as the public health system collapsed.
