It would not have been possible without these lawyers, who contribute not only to the freedom movement but also to the independence of the judiciary. The Allahabad High Court has always stood as the guardian of civil liberties," Chief Justice Kheher said at the closing ceremony of the Allahabad High Court's 150th year celebrations. Lauding the judges of the Allahabad High Court, he added: "The High Court has contributed to five Chief Justice of India and at least 20 judges from the Allahabad High Court were elevated to the Supreme Court." He also said that the success of any country or institution depends on how one takes care of them. "If a judge does 20-25 cases per day then we can finish many cases. It is about adequacy and inadequacy that can we take such challenge. Many cases are pending in the court only due to ego issues," he added. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, several Supreme Court judges and the Chief Justices of various High Courts were among those present at the event. (ANI)
