Bangalore (Karnataka) [India], November 4 (ANI): Stating that people vote on the basis of performance, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said on Monday that all those who played political game of chess are doomed.
Speaking to reporters at his Sadashivanagar residence before departing for campaigning in Channapatna, he said, "All those who played political game of chess are doomed. People will vote in this election based purely on the performance of the candidates."
When asked about Channapatna bye-elections set to happen on November 13, he said, "The people will rate the work of DK Suresh, CP Yogeshwar and Kumaraswamy in this election. This is not a battlefield, but a platform where people will rank the candidates on their performance."
"In democracy, what matters is the work done by the leaders. People decide the winner on the basis of their work and not by anything else," he added.
Addressing the joint campaigns of R Ashok, CT Ravi and Kumaraswamy in Channapatna, he said, "JDS did not support BJP's Mysuru Chalo padayatra. The BJP has to support the JDS at least."
Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy's son, Nikhil Kumaraswamy is in electoral fray on the Channapatna seat against Congress candidate CP Yogeshwar.
Talking about celebrities demanding grants for Jayanagar assembly constituency, he said, "I know about the demand. We have already given an allocation of Rs 40 crore to Jayanagar. Jayanagar MLA met me and I have answered his questions. I will talk about it once I visit the constituency."
Further, on the Waqf land issue he hit out at the BJP, saying, "BJP is not protesting but are doing politics."
Earlier on October 31, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, the NDA candidate for the bypolls shared his disappointment over recent electoral losses on Thursday, attributing them to alleged conspiracies by the Congress in the districts of Mandya and Ramanagar.
During an emotionally charged campaign rally, Nikhil said "The setbacks we faced were not due to a lack of support from the people, but because of Congress's hidden conspiracies against us."
He reaffirmed his dedication to serving his people and emphasized his unwavering belief in democratic principles. (ANI)
