Akhilesh rubbishes PM Modi's claim of ISI role in Kanpur train tragedy

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], Mar. 3 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Friday rebuffed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's claim of ISI hand in Kanpur train accident and alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is used to seek votes by misguiding people. "Our railway minister could not take care of Kanpur tracks and gave false report to the Prime Minister that ISI had damaged the tracks. I want to say that the incident took place in Uttar Pradesh, at least I should have been informed about this. But no information. no truth in it," Akhilesh said while addressing the media here. Earlier in the day, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister had claimed similar thing at an election rally in Ghazipur. Last year, Kanpur witnessed two tragic train accidents. The first one occurred on November 20, killing 150 people with another derailment taking place on December 28. The two mishaps that killed several were later attributed to the ISI operative. Earlier, at an election rally in Uttar Pradesh, Prime Minister Modi described the Kanpur train tragedy as an 'act of terror'. Taking a jibe, Akhilesh said the Prime Minister talked of Harvard (University) and hard work and questioned him if he has hardly done anything. On Uttar Pradesh minister Gayatri Prajapati's case, the Chief Minister said, "The government will cooperate in every way. Justice will be done." Asserting that no speech of Prime Minister Modi ends without mentioning women's security, Akhilesh urged the former to look into the grieves of the women of Kutch, Gujarat. (ANI)
