New Delhi [India], Apr 20 (ANI): All Anna India Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader Sasikala Pushpa has shown solidarity with Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the bill that aims at giving constitutional status to National Commission For Backward Classes (NCBC) and seeks to benefit all OBC communities, including among Muslims. "I am very much proud to be part of your esteemed leadership-era as a part of 'temple of democracy.' It has been a long-standing demand of the OBC community, since Independence to make it a statutory commission. It has indeed happened under your leadership by giving constitutional/statutory acceptance for the function of the NCBC," a letter from Pushpa's office to Prime Minister Modi said. "In order to safeguard, the interest of the socially and educationally backward classes more effectively. Your special initiatve certainly is essential for the present and the future generations. It is an aggressive step to outreach the backward caste in India, as the way we have done for SCs and STs." "We as the Member of Parliament must take this to the people of India, so that 1.34 billion will appreciate your spearhead stand for the generations to come. I deeply appreciate and wish to join your selfless service to the nation," the letter added. Prime Minister Modi's intervention on the subject came during a debate at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Executive meet on a resolution moved on the NCBC Bill. The legislation has been referred to a select committee of the Rajya Sabha after its passage by the Lok Sabha. The government lacks numbers in the Rajya Sabha to get the Constitution Amendment Bill passed, which requires a special two-thirds majority and a subsequent ratification by at least half of the state assemblies.
