AIADMK supports suspension of DMK MLAs, BJP calls 'fist fighting'
Chennai, Aug 18 (ANI): A day after 80 Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam's (DMK) MLAs were suspended by Speaker P. Dhanapal, the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) ) has supported the decision, stating that they were creating ruckus and passing unnecessary comments against the Speaker, which warranted the action. AIADMK leader, C.R. Saraswathi told ANI that despite leader of opposition M.K.Stalin tendering an apology, the opposition party again resorted to such acts. "First of all DMK people should behave in the assembly hall, it's not a road side. Ever since we started the assembly, all these DMK MLAs are making unnecessary comments on the Speaker; they were talking non-sense; and created ruckus in the well of the House. Mr. Stalin, the opposition leader, apologised before the Speaker for the ruckus. Despite his apology, the DMK MLAs again created ruckus yesterday," she said. Meanwhile, questioning the maturity of the elected representatives, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Shaina NC said this kind of "fist fighting" is meant for streets. "What happened in the Tamil Nadu assembly clearly shows that there is no maturity of democracy, where AIADMK and DMK are at the loggerheads. It is unfortunate. Assembly or Parliament are places to debate and discuss and not to have fist fights. This kind of fist fighting is meant for the streets," she said. Yesterday, the Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker expelled DMK MLAs for a week from entering the assembly for continuous disruption of proceedings. Leader of the House and state's Finance Minister O. Paneerselvam moved a resolution seeking suspension of all DMK MLAs present in the House for a week, which was adopted by the House. The disruption triggered after one of the AIADMK MLAs Gunasekaran passed a remark on Stalin's Nammaku Naame (We, Ourselves) roadshow. (ANI)
