AIADMK announces 20 candidates for LS polls in TN

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], March 17 (ANI): The AIADMK on Sunday announced the names of 20 candidates that will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], Mar 17 (ANI): The AIADMK on Sunday announced the names of 20 candidates that will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
KRS Saravanan will contest from Salem, P Kaliyapan from Namakkal, KP Munuswamy from Krishnagiri, G Manimaran from Erode, Thambidurai from Karur, MSM Anandan from Thiruppur, C Mahendran from Pollachi, Chengi Ve Ezhumalai from Arani and SS Krishnamurthy from Thiruvannamalai.
Chandrasekar will contest from Chidambaram, NR Sivapathi from Perambalur, P Ravindranath Kumar from Theni, VVVR Rajsathyan from Madurai, M Thiyagarajan from Nilagiri,  PH Manojpandian from Tirunelveli, Thazhai M. Saravanan from  Nagapattinam, S Asaimani from Mayiladururai, Dr P Venugopal from Thiruvallur, J Jayavardan from Chennai South and Marakadam Kumaravel from Kancheepuram.
Earlier in the day, the party announced that they will contest on 20 Lok Sabha seats including South Chennai, Theni, Pollachi, Karur and Erode while BJP would be fielding its candidates from Kanyakumari, Sivagangai, Coimbatore, Thoothukudi and Ramanathapuram Lok Sabha constituencies.
The announcement was made in a joint press conference held by the BJP, AIADMK, PMK, and DMDK on Sunday.
However, the candidates contesting from these seats are yet to be disclosed.
"AIADMK to contest on 20 Lok Sabha seats which include South Chennai, Theni, Pollachi, Karur, and Erode. BJP to contest on LS constituencies of Kanyakumari, Sivagangai, Coimbatore, Thoothukudi, and Ramanathapuram," said Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister and AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam.
"PMK to contest on Lok Sabha seats of Dharmapuri, Viluppuram, Arakkonam, Chennai Central, Dindigul, Sriperumbudur and Cuddalore. DMDK to contest on Kallakurichi, Tiruchirappalli, Chennai North, Virudunagar. All India NR Congress at Puducherry," he said.
AIADMK will contest on Salem, Namakkal, Krishnagiri, Erode, Karur, Thiruppur, Pollachi, Arani, Thiruvannamalai, Chidambaram, Perambalur, Theni, Madurai, Nilagiri, Tirunelveli, Nagapattinam, Mayiladururai, Thiruvallur, Chennai south, Perambalur.
PMK would contest on Dharmapuri, Vizhupuram, Arakkanom, Cuddalor, central Chennai, Sriperambadur, Dindugal, and BJP on Kanyakumari,Sivagangai, Kovai,Tutucorin, Ramanadhaputam.
DMDK, on the other hand, will contest on Chennai north, Virudhunagar, Trichy, Kallakuruchi, while Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) headed by GK Vasan will field candidates from Tanjore, Puthiya Tamiligam in Thenkasi,  Puthiya Needhi Katchi in  Vellore and NR Congress in Puducherry
Tamil Nadu will go to polls on April 18 for its 39 parliamentary constituencies, while counting of votes will take place on May 23. (ANI)
