New Delhi [India], Mar 17 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and advocate Ajay Aggarwal has written a letter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director Rishi Kumar Shukla demanding further investigation in alleged Bofors scam.
Speaking to ANI, Aggarwal said: "I have written to CBI Director Rishi Kumar Shukla requesting that a further investigation in Bofors scam should be initiated immediately."
"Michael Hershman, one of the private investigators who had investigated this scam appeared on a private TV channel and said that he has a lot of things to say and wants to testify," he said.
"He also claimed that he was engaged by VP Singh, the then Finance Minister to investigate the case. During the probe, he found that some kickbacks were paid in some accounts," he said.
"After the investigation begun the then Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi got very furious and changed the ministry of VP Singh. He has said that if he is called he will make many exposes," added Aggarwal.
SC lawyer Aggarwal also levied strong charges against former CBI director Alok Verma and alleged that Verma had attempted to delay the case in connivance with Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
"After his revelation, CBI came out and said that reinvestigation will be done. And the then CBI chief Alok Verma forwarded an application in trial court to reinvestigate the case despite knowing well that no document is there in the trial court and all have been transferred to the Supreme Court," he said.
"He hatched this conspiracy with Rahul Gandhi to delay and scuttle the probe. There was no need of reinvestigation but of further investigation based on fresh facts that had emerged," claimed Aggarwal.
He also demanded a case to be registered against Gandhi and Verma in this regard.
Earlier in January, the Supreme Court had asked the locus standi of Ajay Aggarwal, in filing an appeal in the Bofors case. The court also said that it would be against criminal jurisprudence to permit a third party who is not connected to the case. (ANI)
