Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], December 8 (ANI): Shiv Sena leader Shaina NC on Sunday attacked the opposition after they questioned the legitimacy of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), saying that it is "not possible", and they should just accept that what people decide is final.
The Shiv Sena leader said that there are strong rooms and CCTV camera footage to see that no vote can be tampered with.
"EVM tampering is not possible. Technical experts and the Election Commission have conducted mock trials and people know that not even one vote can be tampered with. There are strong rooms and CCTV camera footage to see that no vote can be tampered with...Just accept that what people decide is final," Shaina NC said.
"It (elections) are a democratic process. Jo jeeta wohi Sikandar. That victory is the victory of the people. They (MLAs) not only have to take a pledge but also work with conviction in the interest of Maharashtra. I think this is the beauty of democracy and is above any ideology," she added.
Notably, the MVA alliance partners have been raising questions about the legitimacy of EVMs after facing a setback in the Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024.
The Shiv Sena leader further took a swipe at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's willingness to lead the INDIA alliance, emphasising that the absence of a Leader of Opposition (LoP) is a significant indicator of the people's disillusionment with the MVA.
"What is Maha Vikas Aghadi left with? Who is supporting them or not supporting them doesn't mean anything. When you do not have LoP, this is the people's biggest answer to you," she said.
Reportedly, Banerjee has said that she is "willing to lead the INDIA alliance."
On Saturday, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-SCP) chief Sharad Pawar acknowledged the leadership potential of Mamata Banerjee, emphasising her prominence as a national leader and the competence of her party's representatives in Parliament.
Pawar expressed his support, stating, "Yes, certainly (she is capable of leading the alliance). She is a prominent leader of this nation... she has that capability. The elected leaders she sent to Parliament are responsible, dutiful, and well-aware people. Therefore, she has the right to say so." (ANI)
