New Delhi [India], August 12 (ANI): After the meeting at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence, Delhi Minister and AAP leader Gopal Rai on Monday said that the Aam Aadmi Party will begin a 'padayatra' on August 14, adding that Delhi Minister Atishi will hoist the flag on August 15.
"Since the CM is in jail, it is decided that Delhi Minister Atishi will hoist the flag on August 15 on behalf of the government. This was communicated to the department," Rai told ANI.
He further said that the agenda of the meeting was to discuss the strategy for the upcoming elections.
"Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that we have to go among the people with all our strength. We will begin a padayatra on August 14. She (Sunita Kejriwal) is communicating Arvind Kejriwal's message wherever needed and will continue to do so," he added.
AAP MP Sandeep Pathak said that AAP will begin the Padayatra on August 14 because people want to meet Manish Sisodia.
"All the MLAs had come...and all of them assured that they will contest the elections with complete strength. We will show it to the BJP that breaking a party is not going to bring any gains. AAP will rise with more power than ever... We will begin the Padyatra on August 14 because people want to meet Manish Sisodia... Even after so many attempts by the BJP, all works are complete... Water and electricity supply, schools, hospitals and mohalla clinics are functional," Pathak said.
Earlier on Sunday, Delhi's former deputy chief minister and Patparganj MLA Manish Sisodia held a meeting with all the volunteers of his Assembly constituency.
After coming out of Tihar, Manish Sisodia on Sunday held a meeting with all the volunteers, lauding their efforts for serving the people of Patparganj wholeheartedly in his absence and resolving their important issues.
Sisodia was released from Tihar Jail on August 9 after the Supreme Court granted him bail in connection with the Delhi excise policy case after almost 18 months.
Assembly polls in Delhi are expected to be held in early 2025. Congress could not win a single seat in the Delhi assembly polls held in 2020. While the AAP won 62 out of the 70 seats, the BJP secured eighth seats in the last assembly polls. (ANI)
