Gurdaspur (Punjab) [India], May 24 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday alleged that the Punjab government is being controlled by top leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) sitting, adding that the Chief Minister of state cannot make a single decision on his own.
Addressing a public rally in Punjab's Gurdaspur, said that 'Durbaris' of Delhi are governing Punjab.
"Unfortunately, Punjab is being governed via remote control. The Durbaris of Delhi are governing Punjab. The CM of Punjab cannot make a single decision on his own... The CM had to go to Tihar Jail to take new orders to run his government... After 1st June, the corrupt will go to jail again. Will the Punjab government function from the jail again?" PM Modi said.
He further attacked Congress and said that Congress's 'royal family' removed Amarinder Singh from CM's post when he refused to obey orders
"When Congress was in power in Punjab, Congress wanted to run the government of Punjab through remote control. But Captain Amarinder Singh refused to obey the orders of the 'Shehzada' of Delhi (Rahul Gandhi). He gave priority to national security being a border state. The result was that the royal family of Congress and the 'Shehzada' removed him from the post of Chief Minister. Can anyone ever forget this insult to Punjab?," he said.
He further said that INDIA boc people are a great "danger" to the security of the country.
"They are talking about reintroducing Article 370 in Kashmir. They want terrorism back in Kashmir. They want to hand over Kashmir to separatists again. They will send messages of friendship to Pakistan again. They will send roses to Pakistan. Pakistan will carry out bomb blasts. There will be terrorist attacks on the country. Congress will say, we have to talk no matter what. For this, Congress has already started creating an atmosphere. Their leaders are saying, Pakistan has an atomic bomb. Their people are saying, we'll have to live in fear of Pakistan. These INDI alliance people are speaking Pakistan's language," he added.
The Prime Minister further said that the problem with Congress is that it has no faith in India.
"The scions of Congress tarnish the country's image when they go abroad. They say that India is not a nation. Therefore, they want to change the nation's identity. The mentor of the scions has said that the construction of the Ram temple and celebrating Ram Navami in the country threatens the identity of India," he said.
Emphasizing the need for rapid development, PM Modi assured the people of Gurdaspur, Punjab, and the entire country of his unwavering commitment to their progress and prosperity. He said,
"Punjab's development is Modi's priority. The BJP government is building highways like the Delhi-Katra highway and the Amritsar-Pathankot highway here. BJP is developing railway facilities here," he said.
"Our effort is to create new opportunities in Punjab, to benefit the farmers. In the last 10 years, we have procured record amounts of rice and wheat across Punjab. The MSP, which was fixed during the Congress government, has been increased by two and a half times. Farmers are receiving PM Kisan Samman Nidhi for seeds, fertilizers, and other necessities," PM Modi added.
In Punjab, voting for its 13 seats will take place in a single phase, with the seventh and final phase on June 1 seeing voting in Gurudaspur, Amritsar, Khadoor Sahib, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Nandpur Sahib, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Firozpur, Bathinda, Sangrur, and Patiala constituencies.
