New Delhi [India], August 30 (ANI): The ruling Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for seeking President's rule in the national capital.
In a statement on Friday, the AAP accused the BJP of attempting to undermine democratic processes in Delhi by seeking the President's rule and alleged that with a request to dismiss the Delhi government, the party has already conceded defeat in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections.
Earlier in the day, a delegation of members of the Delhi Legislative Assembly led by Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta appealed to President Droupadi Murmu for urgent intervention in the alleged constitutional crisis plaguing Delhi.
The statement alleged that the BJP has no regard for the Constitution and has repeatedly attacked it.
"Wherever the BJP can't win elections, it attempts to run a parallel government with the sole objective to disrupt the work of the elected government of the state. Whether it is Punjab, Kerala, or Tamil Nadu, the selected governors of the CG have indefinitely stalled budgets and other bills. The BJP has zero regard for the constitution & democracy," the statement mentioned.
"Now the BJP is in a hurry to impose the president's rule because they cannot win elections in Delhi. The people of Delhi have seen that CM Arvind Kejriwal has worked like a son of Delhi," it added.
The party also criticized the BJP's failed "Operation Lotus," which aimed to buy legislators to sway elections, and its subsequent attempts to defame AAP leaders.
"The BJP knows it can't win the elections in Delhi. Their notorious "Operation Lotus," a brazen attempt to buy legislators, has miserably failed. Their attempt to steal votes and win elections has failed against AAP," it stated.
"Desperate to seize power in Delhi, the BJP incarcerated all the top AAP leaders. This includes Delhi's three-time popularly elected Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the father of Delhi's education revolution Manish Sisodia, the country's best Health Minister Satyendar Jain, and the most vocal opposition voice in Parliament, Sanjay Singh," the statement added.
The AAP also criticized Delhi Lieutenant Governor LG Saxena for allegedly obstructing government work and undermining the federal structure. The party has called for the dismissal of the Lieutenant Governor, accusing him of engaging in negative politics while holding a constitutional office.
"The LG of Delhi has been a total failure and had done nothing beyond obstructing the work of the people & has consistently undermined the federal structure as envisaged in the Constitution. We appeal to the President to dismiss this LG, who is engaging in negative politics despite holding a constitutional office," the statement mentioned. (ANI)
