"AAP continues with politics of diversion, half truths ..." says Hardeep Singh Puri on Rohingya issue

In a social media post on X, Puri wrote, "Aam Aadmi Party continues with its politics of diversion, false narratives and half-truths. Facts and actual position on illegal Rohingya migrants were immediately clarified through a tweet on the same day which they selectively chose to ignore, and continue to do so."

New Delhi [India], December 15 (ANI): Responding to allegations by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi regarding the rehabilitation of Rohingyas in Delhi, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Sunday accused the AAP of engaging in "diversion, false narratives, and half-truths."
Accusing the AAP of selectively ignoring clarifications, Puri stated that the facts regarding the issue of illegal Rohingya migrants were promptly addressed through a tweet on the same day.
In a social media post on X, Puri wrote, "Aam Aadmi Party continues with its politics of diversion, false narratives, and half-truths. Facts and the actual position on illegal Rohingya migrants were immediately clarified through a tweet on the same day, which they selectively chose to ignore and continue to do so."
He further asserted that "no Rohingya migrant" has been provided with a government house in Delhi.
In a sharp retort, the Union Minister accused the AAP government of facilitating illegal Rohingyas in the national capital.
"No Rohingya migrant has been given a government house in Delhi. In fact, contrary to the fabricated AAP rhetoric, they are actually the ones hosting illegal Rohingyas in Delhi. They have settled them in large numbers, provided them with electricity and water, and even pay them Rs10,000," the tweet stated.
Criticising the AAP government further, Puri alleged that it had failed to contribute its share to several key infrastructure projects in Delhi, including the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) and Phase 4 of the Delhi Metro. He also highlighted that projects such as the Skywalk at ITO, the Rani Jhansi Road Grade Separator, and the Flyover-cum-Underpass at Mahipalpur were completed solely by the Central government.
The social media post added, "It will also help if they state their position on the scams which landed them in jail, the Sheesh Mahal controversy, and their refusal to pay the state share in RRTS and Phase 4 of the Delhi Metro, which caused delays. The PM-UDAY Scheme was also stalled until we went ahead independently to provide ownership rights to people living in unauthorised colonies of Delhi."
"Let us also remind them of several other infrastructure projects for which the Delhi government refused to pay its share. These projects, including the Skywalk at ITO, the Rani Jhansi Road Grade Separator, and the Flyover-cum-Underpass at Mahipalpur, were eventually completed by the Centre, which bore the entire cost," it added.
Puri reiterated that it was the AAP government that provided facilities and financial support, including Rs10,000, to illegal Rohingya migrants.
The tweet read, "With the help of lies. Poor Kejriwal! Ever since the campaign against illegal Bangladeshis and Rohingyas started in Delhi, the pain of those providing them shelter has increased. Kejriwal ji, who gave Rs10,000 to the intruders along with free electricity, water, and other facilities in the illegal Rohingya colony, is once again busy misleading the people of Delhi. The head of the rumour gang, Kejriwal ji, saw my old tweet but ignored its clarification and has failed to provide any evidence of a Rohingya being allotted a house anywhere."
"Well, Kejriwal ji, who has aimed to turn Delhi into a drug capital, has already been jailed in the liquor scam and built a Sheesh Mahal. He has a history of making baseless statements and later apologising in court," the tweet added.
Earlier today, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, accusing the BJP-led central government of settling a "large number" of "illegal migrant Rohingya" refugees in various parts of Delhi without informing the Delhi government.
Referring to two older posts on X by Union Minister Hardeep Puri, Atishi alleged that this situation has persisted for several years.
She urged the Union government to provide the Delhi government with a complete list of Rohingyas along with their addresses and demanded that no further rehabilitation of Rohingyas in Delhi take place without consulting the Delhi government and its residents. (ANI)
