"AAP, BJP failed to build on Sheila Dikshit's legacy": Priyanka Gandhi Vadra

"The work she had done could not be progressed beyond that after her. Today the public is suffering from historic inflation and unemployment but the Aam Aadmi Party and BJP governments sitting in Delhi are busy fighting among themselves. The people of Delhi have understood that only Congress will develop Delhi," her post read.

New Delhi [India], February 1 (ANI): Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday took a swipe at the BJP and AAP governments for failing to build on late Sheila Dikshit's legacy and accused the parties of engaging in political conflicts while the public struggled with rising inflation and unemployment.
Vadra praised veteran Congress leader Sheila Dikshit and said that the late senior party leader had transformed Delhi into one of the most modern cities in the country with wide roads, electricity, water, cleanliness and regularisation of colonies.
"Late Sheila Dixit ji had made Delhi one of the most modern cities in the country. Wide roads, big flyovers, electricity, water, sewer, cleanliness, regularisation of colonies," posted the Wayanad MP on X.
With less than a week left for Delhi assembly polls, Congress candidate from the New Delhi constituency Sandeep Dikshit on Thursday dared Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal for an open debate.
The Congress leader said if Kejriwal does not have time, then he is ready to set up a stage outside the AAP leader's residence for the debate.
"I have challenged Kejriwal to an open debate; if Kejriwal does not have time, then I am ready to set up a stage outside Kejriwal's residence," Dikshit told ANI.
"I (Sandeep Dixit) am ready for a debate outside Jantar Mantar, Kejriwal house or wherever the Aam Aadmi Party is convenient," he added.
Sandeep Dikshit is up against AAP's Arvind Kejriwal and BJP's Parvesh Verma from the New Delhi assembly constituency.
In the previous two elections, held in 2020 and 2015, the Congress has failed to open its account.
Voting for Delhi Assembly polls will be held on February 5. The national capital is all set for a three-way contest between the ruling AAP, the main opposition BJP and Congress.
Earlier in the day, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed the Centre, alleging that it doesn't want to discuss "real issues" in the Parliament.
"They (govt) neither discuss the real issues nor give replies. The last session (of parliament) was also washed away, no discussion took place," Priyanka Gandhi told reporters as she came to the Parliament to attend the Budget Session which began with President Droupadi Murmu addressing the joint session of the two Houses.
The budget will be presented on February 1. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget in the Lok Sabha at 11 am. The budget speech will outline the government's fiscal policies, revenue and expenditure proposals, taxation reforms, and other significant announcements. (ANI)
