Kokrajhar (Assam), Aug.5 (ANI): At least 13 civilians were killed while one terrorist was gunned down in an encounter between the terrorists and the security forces in Assam's Kokrajhar today. The incident has also left around 18 people injured while the combing operations are currently underway to secure to area. "Over 12 people have been killed, one terrorist has been gunned down. We have also recovered grenades and other weapons from him," Assam DGP Mukesh Sahay told ANI. As per reports, an AK-47 has been recovered from the terrorist who was killed after an intense gun battle that lasted about 20 minutes. The gunbattle ensued when the armed extremists opened fired at a market around 12 kms from Kokhrajar. This sudden incident of firing on people at a public place in broad daylight is first of its kind in the militancy-ravaged state. (ANI)
