12 injured in Mahakaushal express derailment

New Delhi [India] Mar. 30 (ANI): As many as 12 people were injured after eight coaches of a Delhi bound Jabalpur-Mahakaushal express derailed near Kulapahar in Mahoba on Thursday.

New Delhi [India] Mar. 30 (ANI): As many as 12 people were injured after eight coaches of a Delhi bound Jabalpur-Mahakaushal express derailed near Kulapahar in Mahoba on Thursday. Director General Public Relations of Indian Railways, Anil Saxena said eight coaches were derailed and the injured passengers have been admitted to the nearby hospital. "The accident took place at around 2:20 a.m. When train no. 12189 Jabalpur-Nizamuddin Mahakaushal Express was near Kulapahar, its eight coaches were derailed. In these eight coaches there were guard cum luggage coach, SLR coach, two ordinary second class coaches, four A/C coaches (A1, HA1, B1, B2) and one sleeper class S8, were affected," he said. He added that the train had total 30 coaches. "According to reports, at least 12 people have been injured but not critical. They were immediately admitted to a hospital in Mahoba and treatment is underway," Saxena said. He further said Divisional Railway Manager of Jhansi division, A.K. Mishra along with a medical team has reached on the spot and relief and rescue operations are underway. "In any way, the situation is under control now and no casualties have been reported. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has ordered the railways authority to take good care of the passengers," Saxena said. The remaining coaches of the train will be moved forward towards Jhansi where eight additional coaches will be attached. Three buses were arranged for the passengers while the stranded ones are provided with water and biscuits. (ANI)
