'Wasn't feasible to organise adequate security for Pak delegation at Golden Temple'
Amritsar (Punjab) [India], Dec. 4 (ANI): The Pakistani delegation's request to visit the Golden Temple on Sunday was carefully looked into, but it was not found feasible to organise adequate security for them at a short notice, said sources. Sources said visits to the Golden Temple by VVIPs and VIPs attending the Heart of Asia Ministerial Conference in Amritsar were initially envisaged for Sunday. However, in addition to being a Sunday, today Guru Teg Bahadur's Martyrdom Day was also observed. Apart from difficulties in ensuring security of VVIPs and VIPs, their visit to the Golden Temple would have caused inconvenience to a large number of devotees. Hence two rounds of visits to the Golden Temple by VVIPs and VIPs were organised on Saturday, said sources. Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz was earlier denied entry to the Golden Temple for security reasons. According to government sources, Aziz went to the temple after the conference, but was denied entry so that no "untoward incident takes place". "The permission was not given due to security reasons. Security of our guests is paramount. India ensures that no untoward incident takes place," officials said. (ANI)
