'Power has gone to their head': Congress on AAP controversies
Delhi [India], Sep. 11 (ANI): The Congress Party on Sunday said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been intoxicated with its new found power and that is the reason such incidences of women harassment are coming to light as they have forgotten how to behave, especially with women. "It seems the power has gone to their head probably, that's why they don't know how to behave themselves, especially with women," Congress leader Sharmistha Mukherjee told ANI. She said that proper investigation should be held in AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan's case, who according to reports has tendered his resignation following the molestation charges being filed by his sister-in-law against him and his brother-in law. "Khan is being accused of a very heinous crime and by none other than one of his family members," said Mukherjee. "I want to remind you there have been many other serious cases against Amanatullah Khan, including trying to molest a women and also trying to run over her by his car. The matter should definitely be investigated in a through impartial manner and also its not only just him but also so many other AAP MLAs have so many charges against them," she added. She further said this brings into question that what was AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal's criteria for the distribution of party tickets. "It also brings into question, Arvind Kejriwal who promised the voters of Delhi that he is going to give a very clean government. So we would like to know from him that what kind of members, leaders and elected representatives his party has, as one after another such allegations are being made against them and what was the criteria for distributing tickets," she said. She mentioned that another AAP MLA, Pawan Sharma was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment on charges of causing death by negligence of a factory worker in 2009. She pointed that he was given a ticket despite the fact that the case against Sharma was registered on August 5, 2009. "We would like to ask Kejriwal on what ground this gentleman (Pawan Sharma) was given the ticket, what kind of scrutiny was done," she said. The Amanatullah controversy comes as AAP is still struggling with allegations from their own MLA, Devinder Sehrawat, who claimed that he had received reports about women being exploited in Punjab with promises of election tickets. Also recently, AAP MLA Sandeep Kumar was accused of raping a woman a year ago and was arrested after facing suspension from the party. (ANI)

“Govt must clarify LPG reserves, supply timelines to public

"The government should clarify - what is the amount of reserves in our country presently, how much is left, how much can be consumed over how many days, and by when are they expecting that the LPG supply would be normalised. I believe the government is having talks; the people of this nation also need to be told about the current situation. If there is a crisis of energy, then by when the government plans to resolve it should also be clarified to the people, especially to the common man," he said.
