'Fool-proof' security in place for I-Day, 'Bharat Parv': Delhi Police
New Delhi, Aug 15 (ANI): The Delhi Police are keeping a tight vigil at the national capital on the eve of the Independence Day celebrations to thwart any untoward incident during the marquee event. Deputy Commissioner of Police(DCP) Jatin Narwal told ANI, "Adequate security arrangements have been for the Independence day celebrations and other national celebrations in New Delhi, especially at the Rajpath and other adjoining areas. We also have also provided fool-proof security for the ongoing 'Bharat Parv' from August 12-18, along the Rajpath." "We have installed frisking booths and anti-sabotage checkpoints at various places. We are trying to ensure that people enjoy the events by keeping all the security arrangements intact," he added. Nation gears up to celebrate the 70the Independence Day on Monday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi unfurling the national flag at the Red Fort. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort at around 7.30 in the morning on the occasion. Home Minister Rajnath Singh yesterday reviewed the security situation in the country, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir. Top brass of the security establishment briefed him on the prevailing situation in the country and the steps taken to foil any attempt by terrorists and other elements to disturb peace. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi, and chiefs of intelligence agencies were among those who attended the meet. Areas around the Red Fort are under massive security cover and a multi tier ground to air security ring has been put up. Paragliders and drone detectors are deployed around the Red Fort for the first time. Several events have been organized in the run up to the Independence Day. The Prime Minister flagged off the Tiranga Yatra on 9th August from the birth place of the freedom fighter Chandrashekhar Azad in Madhya Pradesh. The Yatra is aimed at invoking the patriotic fervor among the people from all walks of life holding aloft the Tricolour. A week long Bharat Parv has been organized at the Rajpath Lawns in New Delhi by the Ministry of Culture. The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has put on display a photo exhibition titled "Azadi 70 Saal- Yaad Karo Kurbani".
