'Dehydrated' Sonia Gandhi advised rest: Ganga Ram Hospital
New Delhi, Aug 3 (ANI): Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who is presently being treated at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital here, is dehydrated and has been advised rest. Sir Ganga Ram Hospital chairman Dr D.S. Rana said the Congress president was admitted at around 1: 30 p.m. under the care of Dr Arup Basu and his team from Department of Pulmonology. Giving details about her present health condition, Dr Rana said, "She is dehydrated, but is presently stable. Further investigation is being conducted and she has been advised rest." Gandhi, who unexpectedly took ill yesterday during her roadshow in Varanasi, was yesterday admitted to the Army Research and Referral Hospital after she developed high fever. The Congress Party earlier told ANI that Gandhi is recovering under medical supervision. "She has also thanked all fellow countrymen and crores of Congress men for their concerns and good wishes expressed over the last 24 hours," Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said. Earlier in the day, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar met Gandhi at the hospital here. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier offered help to Gandhi, who had to cut short her Varanasi visit after falling ill, by sending a doctor for her health check-up and a plane for her transportation back to the national capital. Sources told ANI that Prime Minister Modi also spoke to Congress' chief ministerial candidate for 2017 Uttar Pradesh assembly polls, Sheila Dikshit, and enquired about Gandhi's health. The Congress president, who had to leave the party's roadshow in Varanasi midway, said that she was sad to have cut short her visit to the temple town. "I am saddened that due to my ill health, I had to cut my visit to Varanasi short. I could not visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple either," Gandhi said in a statement. "I will come back very soon, and then visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple," she added. (ANI)
