'Bike Ambulance dada' Karimul Haque wishes for more bikes to aid people

Jalpaiguri, (West Bengal) [India] Feb. 06 (ANI): Padmashree awardee Karimul Haque, a resident of Kranti village in Jalpaiguri district of West-Bengal, popularly known as "Bike Ambulance Dada" said that he wants more and more bike ambulance in the country to help those in need.

Jalpaiguri, (West Bengal) [India] Feb. 06 (ANI): Padmashree awardee Karimul Haque, a resident of Kranti village in Jalpaiguri district of West-Bengal, popularly known as "Bike Ambulance Dada" said that he wants more and more bike ambulance in the country to help those in need. Karimul Haque, 52-year-old, who received the award this year for his unique way of doing social service, is using his motorcycle to ferry patients to medical facilities for the past 20 years. He is a tea garden worker by profession. He provides a 24 hour free of cost social service to several villagers of the area. Till today, more than 3500 patients have benefited. He watched his mother die after failing to go to a hospital in the absence of an ambulance and decided to use his motorcycle as a bike ambulance for local residents. Now his family also helps him. He also set up a first aid centre in his house to support kids during an emergency. Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Parliamentary Affairs S.S. Ahluwalia on Sunday met him and requested him to guide people as a motivational speaker. On the other hand, a youth of the Kranti village said, "We are getting inspiration from bike ambulance dada and trying to do something for the society". (ANI)
