Yuvraj's sister-in-law names him, brother in domestic violence case

Gurugram (Haryana) [India], October 18 (ANI): Cricketer Yuvraj Singh, his mother Shabnam and brother Zorawar, were named in domestic violence case filed by former Bigg Boss contestant and sister-in-law Akanksha on Wednesday.

Akanksha was last seen in the 10th season of the famous reality show 'Bigg Boss'. She refused to comment as of now, but assured to speak on the subject after the first hearing on October 21.

Defending his client, Zorawar's lawyer Damanbir Singh Sobti told ANI, "According to Akanksha's own admission, legally, she left her matrimonial house in September 2014. She was residing with Zorawar Singh then and since September 2014 till now she has not filed any domestic violence complaint. Zorawar had filed a divorce petition against Akanksha first, against which she moved the Supreme Court She submitted a statement in SC that both the parties have compromised the matter and will convert the petition for a divorce by mutual consent. Thus, the petition was to be converted since all settlement happened between the families."

He further said that Akanksha, through counsel, had specifically said that everything is settled then filing of petition is a direct contempt of court.

"Not even for a day, Yuvraj Singh has been in domestic relationship with Akanksha. She has said in court as well as in Bigg Boss that Yuvraj Singh has been very nice to her. My clients have faith in judiciary. They did not write down the settlements because the families have a good social status and both parties were consenting for the same," he added.

Meanwhile, Akanksha's lawyer Swati Singh Malik confirmed the development and said, "Yes, Akanksha has filed a case of domestic violence against Yuvraj, her husband Zorawar and their mother Shabnam. Look, domestic violence does not mean just physical violence. It also means mental and financial torture, which can be attributed to Yuvraj. Yuvraj was a mute spectator to the suffering caused to my client by Zorawar and his mother."

"When Yuvraj and Zorawar's mother was pressurising Akanksha to have a baby, Yuvraj too had joined in to do the same. He too told Akanksha 'to have a baby'. He was hand-in-glove with his mother. Yuvraj would even tell her that she should obey his mother because she was the most superior person in the house," she said. (ANI)
