Doda (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 3 (ANI): The Bhaderwah Development Authority in association with various youth organisations organised a Youth Bike Rally in Bhaderwah town of Doda district on Saturday.
The event was organised to raise awareness about road safety and traffic rules among adventure enthusiasts and promote tourism in adventure sports.
The rally was flagged off by Doda Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh along with the CEO of Bhaderwah Development Authority, Bal Krishan and SDPO of Bhaderwah, Dr Waseem.
In view of rising bike accident cases, this event aimed at educating the youth about the importance of following traffic rules and prioritizing safety on the roads.
Speaking to ANI, Deputy Commissioner of Doda, Harvinder Singh said, "Our sub-district Bhaderwah has immense adventure potential for tourists and bikers. With the commencement of tourist season, a 'Youth Bike Rally' has been organised by our home-grown group 'Adventure Hoax' to educate the youth about the importance of following traffic rules and prioritizing safety on the roads."
"To increase their enthusiasm and motivation, the administration also participated in the event," Singh said.
He further conveyed, "The main purpose of the event was to encourage the youth to channel their energy towards sports, adventure tourism and positive things so that they can contribute to developing the nation. Whereas, we also aimed to educate ones who have lost the sole aim of their life."
Highlighting the tourism potential of the district, the Deputy Commissioner said, "There are various tourist destinations and numerous options for adventure biking in this district, including spots such as Jai Valley, Padri Pass, Bhal Padri, Guldanda, etc. Tourists can enjoy these lush green meadows. Significantly, it will boost tourism and adventure sports and potentially increase the livelihood of locals."
In his message to the bikers, he conveyed, "Recently, there was a case where a woman was crushed to death by a biker while he was performing a stunt, upon which we had strictly cracked down. Just today, we had a 10-minute long discussion on the safety issues, rules and regulations while driving. My message to the youth will be to drive safely while following traffic rules. I want to say use your energy to grow yourself and not to hurt others." (ANI)
