New Delhi [India], August 20 (ANI): RJD MP Sudhakar Singh slammed the Centre over the Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, 2025, and said that the government does not have the right to punish the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers and Ministers.
Sudhakar Singh told ANI, "Here, the government is saying that it will file a case and dismiss... If an FIR is filed, some people resign and some do not, but you do not have the right to punish them."
The RJD MP alleged that with this Bill, the nation is moving towards dictatorship.
"A step is being taken to move towards dictatorship in the country; if any person challenges the establishment of power, such people will be arrested overnight and sent to jail."
Comparing India to its neighbours, Pakistan and Bangladesh, he added, "India is on the verge of becoming Pakistan and Bangladesh, where opposition leaders are either in jail or abroad. An attempt is being made to adopt the same method inside India, which will be opposed."
Meanwhile, Karnataka BJP MLA Arvind Bellad welcomed the move and slammed the Opposition, calling them "thieves".
"This is a welcome move because in the past, CMs have tried to rule the government in spite of being in jail... And assume the power as soon as they come out. Congress and its allies are the ones who will be majorly affected by this. They are the biggest thieves," Bellad said.
Earlier today, Congress MP KC Venugopal termed it a "draconian law" and a diversionary tactic.
"This is only a diversionary tactic. This is a draconian law. This is not going to be passed by the Parliament. They want to divert attention from electoral fraud and the Bihar Yatra...They are trying to constitutionalise vendetta politics," Venugopal told the media.
The Constitution (130th Amendment) Bill, 2025, seeks to remove a Central or State Minister who is facing allegations of corruption or serious offences and has been detained for at least 30 days.
The Bill will be tabled by Union Minister Amit Shah in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. (ANI)
