New Delhi [India], November 3 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Monday took a strong exception to a plea filed by a petitioner, G. Sarvam Kumar, to be appointed as a judge of the Telangana High Court.
A bench led by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) B.R. Gavai rebuked the petitioner and remarked that he's made a mockery of the system by filing such a plea.
"Do you want to hold a collegium meeting now... You are making a mockery of the system", CJI Gavai said.
The Court further warned the petitioner that it would impose costs on his plea.
"When have we heard petitions regarding the appointment of a High Court judge. How much cost should we impose?", the CJI said.
In response to the apex court's displeasure, the petitioner apologised and sought to withdraw his plea.
Allowing the petitioner to withdraw his plea, the Court dismissed (as withdrawn) the same. (ANI)
