Yogi Adityanath questions K'taka govt. over beef consumption

Hubli (Karnataka) [India] December 21 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said nothing can be expected from the Karnataka government as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah himself gives approval to the consumption of beef, which depicts going against nation's ethics.

Speaking to media here, the Chief Minister said, "Karnataka Chief Minister himself has allowed the consumption of beef. What else we can expect from this government!"

Further responding on the celebration of Tipu Sultan's birth anniversary, the Chief Minister said, "Karnataka is known for its spirituality and cultural ethics. That very state is celebrating the birth anniversary of Mohammad Adil Shah and Tipu Sultan. This is very unfortunate and is expected from the Congress Party".

He added that discrimination on the basis of caste and religion will not be tolerated in the nation, instead development and nationalism are the prime focus.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government is moving forward with the same ideology as we can witness the victory in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh," Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister asserted.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Education Minister Dr Sharan Prakash Patil, hitting out at Chief Minister Adityanath's remark, said the latter should concentrate more on the law and order of Uttar Pradesh instead of other states.

"Yogi Adityanath has come to Karnataka and tried to create a rift in the society, which is typical of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He should concentrate more on Uttar Pradesh and analyse the situation of law and order there as he is not able to do justice in monitoring administration there," Patil pointed out.

Adityanath's statement comes on the heels of Karnataka Assembly elections, scheduled to be held in 2018. (ANI)
