Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 10 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday paid tributes to the former CM of the state and union minister Govind Ballabh Pant on his birth anniversary.
Later, while speaking to the media here, Yogi Adityanath said that Ballabh Pant had laid the foundation of Uttar Pradesh as its first chief minister.

“It is Govind Ballabh Pant’s birth anniversary today and on behalf of the state and people of the state, I pay my tributes to a great freedom fighter who played a pivotal role in the independence of the country during his college period. He laid the foundation of the state of Uttar Pradesh,” CM Yogi said after paying flower tribute to Pant at Lok Bhawan in Lucknow.
He also lauded the service of Ballabh Pant as Union Home Minister and the CM of Uttar Pradesh.
September 10 is marked the birth anniversary of Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant who was an Indian freedom fighter. He played a key role in India's independence movement and later was a pivotal figure in the Indian Government.
Pant became the first Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister in 1950.
As the first Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant, a Congress stalwart and leading figure in India’s freedom movement, is credited with providing a stable government and ensuring communal harmony in the state in post-Independence years.
Notably, the Uttar Pradesh government led by Pant abolished the zamindari system from the state.
In January 1955, Pant took oath as a Union Home Minister when Jawaharlal Nehru was the prime minister of the country.
In 1957, Pant was conferred with the Bharat Ratna — the only UP CM to have been given the country’s highest civilian honour so far. (ANI)
