Yellow alert for rains issued in Mumbai, other districts of Maharashtra for two days

Chief Scientist, India Meteorological Department, Sunil Kamble said that for the coming two to three days, the Yellow alert for rain has been issued in Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad areas.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 19 (ANI): Chief Scientist, India Meteorological Department, Sunil Kamble said that for the coming two to three days, the Yellow alert for rain has been issued in Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad areas.
Speaking to ANI on Wednesday, Sunil Kamble said, "The pace of rain in Mumbai had reduced a bit in the last 2-3 days, but now it is gaining momentum. The monsoon current is becoming moderately strong. For the coming 2-3 days, we have given yellow alerts in Mumbai, Thane and Raigad areas. We have also given yellow alerts for the entire Vidarbha. The rest of Maharashtra is also not on alert, but moderate rain will continue there as well."
He further said that in Mumbai currently, the rainfall is widespread.
He further said, "Yellow alert has been given in Mumbai, Sindhudurg, and many parts of Vidarbha. In Mumbai currently, rain is widespread and 50-60 mm. During the onset of the Monsoon, the fishermen are put on alert depending on wind speed in East Central Arabian sea and West central Arabian sea. At present there is a Yellow alert. From June 20-21 the rain can become widespread and heavy to very heavy rain is expected."
Mumbai city on Wednesday woke up to cloudy skies and several parts of the city received rainfall in the morning.
The temperature in Mumbai was recorded at 28.65 degrees Celsius today. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 33 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees respectively for the next two days.
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai for today and tomorrow.
Neighbouring cities like Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Pune will observe yellow alert conditions till June 23.
"Conditions are favorable for the further advance of the Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and the Northwest Bay of Bengal, some parts of Gangetic West Bengal, the remaining parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and some parts of Bihar & Jharkhand during the next 3-4 days," the IMD said in its bulletin.
