Yeddyurappa named in FIR, he should resign from LS: Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India] October 26 (ANI): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday said state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President B.S. Yeddyurappa should tender his resignation from the Lok Sabha as he also has a case registered in his name.

The Chief Minister reaction came after Yeddyurappa demanded removal of Karnataka Minister KJ George from the Cabinet after a case was filed against him by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with suicide of a police officer.

"FIR is also registered against him (Yeddyurapa), he is a sitting MP, he should resign," Siddaramaiah said, while referring to a leaked video case against Yeddyurappa and Union Minister for Fertiliser and Chemical Ananth Kumar.

Yeddyyrappa is a Member of Parliament from Shimoga Lok Sabha constituency in Karnataka.

Siddaramaiah, however, refused to comment on case against George and said, "first, we will get detailed information and react tomorrow".

KJ George also reacted on the development and said he will wait for the CBI report.

Yeddyurappa has also threatened to launch a statewide protest, if George isn't removed from the Congress-led Karnataka government.

On Thursday, the CBI registered a case against George, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Lokayukta, Bengaluru, Pranab Mohanty and Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) State Intelligence, AM Prasad in the M.K. Ganapathi's suicide case.

Ganapathi allegedly killed himself in a lodge in Kodagu on July 7, 2016 when he was Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mangaluru. In a video message, he named KJ George, AM Prasad and Pranab Mohanty responsible for his extreme step. (ANI)
