Yamunotri Dham in Uttarakhand closes for winter on Bhai Dooj

The doors of the revered Yamunotri Dham were closed for the winter season on Sunday on the occasion of Bhai Dooj.

Uttarkashi (Uttarakhand) [India], November 3 (ANI): The doors of the revered Yamunotri Dham were closed for the winter season on Sunday on the occasion of Bhai Dooj.
The sequence of special worship and Abhishek continued in Yamunotri Dham since early morning and in Abhijeet Muhurta at 12.05 pm, the doors of the temple were closed and the Bhoga idol of Yamuna ji was placed in a doli and sent to Kharsali village under the leadership of Bhai Shanidev Sameshwar Maharaj.
A large number of devotees had reached Yamunotri Dham to witness the closing of the doors and the doli yatra.
The Bhoga idol of Yamuna ji will remain seated in the Yamuna temple located in Kharsali village for the winter season and devotees will be able to worship Yamuna ji in the temple located in Kharsali till the doors of Yamunotri temple open.
Meanwhile, the doors of Kedarnath Dham were also closed for the winter season on Sunday.
The doors were closed with Vedic rituals and religious traditions amidst the chanting of Om Namah Shivay, Jai Baba Kedar and the devotional tunes of the Indian Army band.
As per a government release, more than 15,000 devotees were present to witness the closing of the doors. The temple was decorated with flowers in a grand manner from the day of Diwali itself.
The process of closing the doors started at 5 am on Sunday in the presence of Badrinath- Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) President Ajendra Ajay, Acharyas, Vedpathis and priests of BKTC performed Samadhi Puja of the self-manifested Shivalinga of Lord Kedarnath.
The self-manifested Shivalinga was given Samadhi form with ashes, local flowers, Bel leaves. At 08:30 am, Baba Kedar's Panchmukhi Utsav Doli was brought out of the temple, after which the doors of Kedarnath temple were closed. (ANI)
