Yaba tablets worth Rs 9 crore seized in Assam's Cachar, one arrested

Assam police seized 30,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 9 crore in Cachar district and arrested an accused in connection with the same on Saturday, police said.

Cachar (Assam), [India], July 28 (ANI): Assam police seized 30,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 9 crore in Cachar district and arrested an accused in connection with the same on Saturday, police said.
The search operation was conducted on the night of July 27 following a specific input regarding the transportation of narcotic substances in the Katakhal area under the jurisdiction of Dholai Police Station.
The arrested accused has been identified as Abdul Alim (42) a resident of Saptagram village under Dholai police station.
Numal Mahatta, Superintendent of Police of Cachar District, said, "During the operation, the police team apprehended one person and recovered 30,000 Yaba tablets from his possession. The apprehended accused persons have been identified as Abdul Alim (42 years old) of Saptagram village under Dholai police station. The price of the narcotics substance in the black market is about Rs 9 crore.
"In this connection, a scooty used in illegal transportation has been seized. The consignment of the narcotics substance is illegally transported from Aizawl," Numal Mahatta said.
Further investigation is underway.
Earlier, in a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Guwahati Zonal Unit seized 6.790 kg of drugs and apprehended two individuals on July 23.
The operation followed several days of continuous surveillance based on special intelligence. The NCB identified and dismantled an inter-state syndicate involved in the trafficking of Methamphetamine from Churachandpur in Manipur to Shillong in Meghalaya.
"NCB, Guwahati Zonal Unit apprehended two persons at ISBT By Pass, Sonari Road, Silchar (Assam) on the evening of July 23 while they were proceeding towards Shillong (Meghalaya) in a car. On search, NCB Guwahati team recovered and seized 6.790 kg of Methamphetamine from their possessions," the Zonal Director of NCB, Guwahati said in a press statement.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as Gouzalal Singson from Churachandpur, Manipur, and Thangminlun Lhungdim from Sangaikot, Manipur. (ANI)
